Off To a Good Start!
Here in the Northeast of the USA, the weather is starting to cool off, apples, pumpkins, and all things spice are all around, and school is in full swing. I’m a high school teacher in a district in New Jersey, and as I get to know my students and foster relationships, I’m excited to see and think about the same things happening all around the world. The eight schools Gospel Growers support in Haiti are also off to a good start, with temperatures a little more warm and classrooms looking a little bit different. Regardless of location, it’s inspiring to think of children all over the world as they learn, grow, and strive to be better through our education systems. I often spend time reflecting on the differences between education worldwide, but one thing that is undoubtedly true is that “[e]ducation is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” —Nelson Mandela. Today’s post is to share some pictures and videos of the schools supported by Gospel Growers, as they have kicked off the school year down on the southern coast.
Also encouraging to report, the church building that was built in Metayer, and will be used for school and church functions, has already been utilized by our friends in the community. Below are a few pictures of the space being used as well as students from the community.
If you haven’t already done so, jump over to our homepage or radio station webpage, where you can listen to Radio Semance FM, ringing in loud and clear. As Sam recently reported to me, it’s as if you were there in person listening to the station that inspires so many!
There are a few prayer requests for the mission that we would really love you to keep in mind. First off, please keep in prayers the Dariol Health Clinic. The pastor of the church in Dariol believes a new Haitian staff needs to be implemented to have the clinic run effectively. We are currently in prayer and meditation over who that should be. The clinic is currently being utilized as a first aid station for the area. Secondly, please pray for one of our partners down in Port au Prince, Jean Denis. He and his wife recently had an adorable baby boy. They need prayers for his health, as there were some complications at birth. Jean Denis asks for prayers for the whole family during this transition!
As always, thank you for your ongoing support! We couldn’t do the wonderful work happening in Haiti without you.
